Christmas tree collection: what to expect

Getting rid of a real Christmas tree is awkward. It will not fit in most garden waste bins, it sheds needles all over the car, and recycling centres are busy in early January. We collect trees from your doorstep and take them for chipping and composting.

Collections run in the first weeks of January across Ipswich. Book online, leave the tree outside on your collection day, and we do the rest. Shops, offices, pubs and hotels with large display trees can book a collection too.

Trees must be free of decorations, tinsel and lights, and should be removed from their stand or pot. Plastic netting is fine; we remove it before chipping.

Christmas tree recycling

What happens to the tree

Trees are shredded into wood chip, which is used for mulch, compost and paths.

Large display trees

Trees for shops, offices and pubs can be several metres tall. Tell us the height when you book so we bring the right vehicle.

Potted trees

Trees with roots can be replanted in the garden instead of being recycled.

Artificial trees

Artificial trees are not recyclable in the same way. We can collect them as general waste or with other furniture.
