WEEE recycling · Ipswich
Fridges, freezers, TVs, washing machines, computers and other electrical items collected from homes and businesses and recycled under WEEE rules.
Electrical waste, known as WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment), cannot go in household bins or skips. Many items contain hazardous parts, such as the refrigerant gases in fridges and freezers or the mercury in old fluorescent tubes, and almost all of them contain metals and plastics that can be recovered.
We collect electrical items from homes, offices, landlords and businesses across Ipswich, from a single fridge freezer to a full office of IT equipment. Everything goes to an authorised treatment facility, where hazardous parts are removed safely and materials are recovered for recycling.
If you are buying a new appliance, the retailer may offer to take your old one away. If not, or if you have several items to get rid of, our collection service is the simplest option.
Including American-style fridge freezers and chest freezers.
Washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, cookers and ovens.
Flat screens and older CRT sets.
PCs, laptops, servers, printers and phones, with secure data handling.
Kettles, microwaves, vacuums and power tools.
Fluorescent tubes and lamps, handled as hazardous waste.
Fridges and freezers contain refrigerant gases and insulating foams that can damage the ozone layer or add to climate change if released. They must be degassed at a specialist facility, which is why they cannot go in a skip.
Computers, phones and storage devices can hold personal and business data. We can wipe data to a recognised standard or destroy drives, with certificates provided for business customers.
Businesses must keep electrical waste separate and pass it to an authorised carrier, with the correct paperwork. Hazardous WEEE such as fridges and fluorescent tubes needs a hazardous waste consignment note.
Working appliances can often be refurbished and reused. Let us know if an item works and we will try to send it for reuse.
